What we collect when you sell to us
- Identity details from your photo ID — including the ID number and your contact information. Required on every transaction; you must be 18 or over.
- Serial numbers of the items you sell us.
- Transaction records — what you sold, what we paid, and when.
Why we collect it
We record the seller against every serial number we buy. On request, we provide law enforcement with a copy of the bill of sale, including transaction history and seller information.
This is how a secondhand hardware business demonstrates that stolen property is not moving through it. It is also the reason we cannot make an exception on the ID requirement.
Data on devices you sell us
Every storage device we buy is securely erased at no charge once the purchase is complete. You may watch on request, and a Certificate of Data Destruction is available on request.
We do not browse, copy or retain the contents of drives that pass through our hands.
