Sell SSD San Antonio

Your drive is worth cash, and whatever is on it gets erased for free after we buy it. Tell us what you have, get a quote, bring it in, and you are paid the same day.

Why not just list it

Cash today beats maybe-money in three weeks.

A patient private sale can pay more; it also takes weeks, and it rarely goes to plan — lowball messages, no-shows, a stranger in a parking lot. Here you see how much we pay before you leave the house, and the cash is in your hand the day you walk in. Off your floor, into your pocket.

What we buy

The list, in plain terms.

M.2 NVMe
PCIe 5.0, 4.0 and 3.0 — Gen4 and Gen5 drives fetch the most
2.5-inch SATA SSD
Still widely used for secondary storage
Mechanical hard drives
Desktop and laptop, if they pass a health check
Enterprise SSDs
U.2 and data-centre drives, tested the same way
External drives
Portable SSDs and enclosures with a drive inside

Not seeing yours? See what we don't buy. And if it turns out to be too old to be worth buying, we recycle it free on the same visit.

How we price it

What moves the price, and by how much.

Our pricing is a percentage of what the item is currently selling for used, and we update those figures weekly. Beyond that, these are the things we actually look at.

  1. 01

    Capacity

The dominant factor. 2TB and above holds value considerably better than 512GB and below.

  2. 02

    Interface generation

A PCIe 4.0 drive is worth meaningfully more than a PCIe 3.0 drive of the same capacity.

  3. 03

    Health and wear

We read the drive's own SMART data — power-on hours, reallocated sectors, and for SSDs the percentage of rated writes used. This is measured, not estimated.

  4. 04

    DRAM cache

Drives with a cache are worth more than DRAM-less budget drives at the same capacity.

  5. 05

    Failed drives

We do not buy drives that fail their health check. We will recycle them for you free rather than send you home with them.

We don’t open low and negotiate up. The quote you’re given is the price. More on how we price →

No surprises

Three steps. One trip. Paid.

  1. Get your quote before you drive. Find your item on this site and see how much we pay, in real time. Accept it and it’s emailed to you, so you arrive with the quote already in writing.
  2. Bring it in, no appointment. We log the model, condition and serial number in front of you (photo ID, 18 or over), then check it on the workshop bench — about ten to fifteen minutes per item. Your quote stands unless the item isn’t as described or part of it fails; then we show you what we found, offer a parts price, and you decide.
  3. Walk out paid. Cash or a company check, same day, before you leave. Say no at any point and take it home — no fee, no hard feelings.

We record the serial number and the seller’s ID on every purchase, and hand the bill of sale to law enforcement if they ask. That’s why we need your ID, and why stolen hardware doesn’t come through this door.

Your data

Every drive we buy is securely erased, at no charge.

After the purchase, free, and you can watch if you ask. Want it in writing? A Certificate of Data Destruction is printed on request. Rather keep the drive and sell the rest? Fine and normal — the quote is just lower without it.

Not sure exactly what you have?

Open This PC, right-click the drive, choose Properties, then Hardware — the model number is listed. Capacity shows in File Explorer.

Common questions

Before you drive over.

What happens to the data on my drive?

Every storage device we buy is securely erased at no charge once the purchase is complete, and you are welcome to watch if you ask. If you want it documented, ask for a Certificate of Data Destruction and we will print it before you leave.

Can I keep my drive and sell the rest of the machine?

Yes, and it is a normal thing to ask for. The offer is lower without the drive, but plenty of people prefer that and we will not talk you out of it.

Do you buy dead or failing drives?

No. A drive that fails its health check is not something we will resell, so we do not buy it. Bring it anyway if you like — we recycle old computer gear free.

Get your quote, then bring it in.

We're at 11503 Jones Maltsberger Rd #1138, north of the airport, south of Wurzbach Parkway — Suite 1138, straight down the hallway, last door on the right. Tuesday to Saturday, no appointment, cash the same day. Bring a valid photo ID.

The phone is answered “Alamo Geeks” — that's us. Buyback Geeks is our buyback division, same building, same people.
